Free combat overhaul mod
Ultimate Combat SE is a free fighting-system overhaul mod for Skyrim Special Edition. It adds new attack modes and effects, making it easier to play with a more challenging difficulty. The main purpose is to make fight scenes more realistic and enjoyable. Similar mods include Combo Combat, Valravn - Integrated Combat of Skyrim, Unique Uniques, and Skysa Grip Switch.
Magic attacks and spells also received an upgrade, while every race has a new combat overhaul. You’ll see various animations added to combat, such as dash and rotation. There’s also a new stagger system so that there aren’t too many staggers during battle. Other new features include a timed block, infighting shield, speed bonus, and location damage.
Improved combat mechanics
While Skyrim originally had good combat mechanics when it launched, the moves soon became repetitive. Even the slow-mo final kill animation wasn’t enough to keep players excited. Ultimate Combat SE performs a complete overhaul, making the actions more realistic in response to your opponents.
The opponents also become more challenging. You’ll find it more enjoyable to fight them, showing off your combat skills against tough foes. Some added movements include dodge, continuous attacks, and specific race motions.
New animations
There’s a range of new animations added with Ultimate Combat SE. You’ll see new effects with the dash motion, while you also have new poise and stagger movements. Infighting Shield expands your magic charge with timed blocks, and you’ll damage the enemy’s stamina and cause them to fall back. Stepping forward during an attack increases damage.
Other top features
When you attack a specific part of a body, it now has a resulting effect. You’ll see new damage effects when targeting the head, arms, or legs with a crossbow or bow. The blocking ability lets you attack at the same time. Some races have specific speed, stats, and attack bonuses relative to their class.
Fighting a new way
Ultimate Combat SE improves the original fighting system in Skyrim Special Edition, making it more enjoyable to play for veteran gamers. The new animations look incredible, and you’ll feel a greater victory when killing opponents. For the mod to work, you need the latest game of Skyrim and launcher versions of SKSE and SkyUI.
